|If you want to throw big forms, but think you don’t have the muscle for it, this Video Tip of the Week is for you. For me, large pots are a challenge because of the strain they can put on my wrists and arms. So I am always looking for techniques that can help reduce throwing fatigue. Today, Syracuse, New York, potter Tim See demonstrates how to make larger forms in sections to reduce stress and strain on muscles. -Jennifer Harnetty, editor.|
More about the star of this video, in his own words:
I am a ceramic artist from New York. Clay is all I do. I don’t sleep, eat, have friends, watch TV – I just make pots. Sometimes to break up the time making stuff, I teach, do workshops and make instructional videos on throwing, decorating and wood firing. I love the surface of ceramics and use many different firings to get the looks I want. My favorite is wood. I teach classes at Clayscapes Pottery in Syracuse. I also do workshops on throwing techniques, decorating, brush making and different kinds of firing (wood, raku, pit).
