Studio Description: The studio is 400 Square feet crammed the rafters with materials and equipment. I work solo and wheel throw traditional functional pottery and handbuilt abstract sculpture and decorative sculpture. Much of what I hand build keeps it’s feet firmly planted in the vessel forms as well as totally uniquely personal forms. I am primarily self taught although I had a good deal of technical help from Ray Boswell of Sugarloaf New York friendship and inspiration from Peter Callas and Peter Volkus. I was lucky enough to spend time at Peter Callas’s place in NJ before ever venturing into the world of making ceramics. Although I had been a conceptual sculptor and a professional tattoo artist for 28 years. It was my daughter Emma a ceramics major currently at ASU and My wife Kristine who pulled me into Ray Boswells studio and I was a goner as soon as I threw my first closed form. I recently have been trying to reflect my new home in the red rocks of Sedona AZ being a northeasterner for 56 years it has come as quite and exciting experience to be in such a natural and powerful spiritual landscape. I think it’s quite apparent in the work what magic the surroundings can bring.
