The studio is broken up into two buildings. One for clay making and one for metal work, glaze spraying and gas firing. We have a Bailey 1812 gas kiln and a large Evenheat electric kiln. We have two potters wheels and a slab roller. We make all of our own glazes from scrap from selected recipes. We primarily fire at Cone 10 in reduction. However we do custom tile and other creative clay work in lower temperatures, including lusters. The vision of this studio resides in the focus of pushing functional work to Higher limits. Where it becomes collectible art or esteemed references to classical forms – with a twist & a wink. My artistic background is in industrial design and graphic design, so I find myself making products that are tight and crisp. I blend a mix of stainless steel into many of my pieces. I hand wrought and weld and polish all pieces in my shop. My approach is one of a prototype philosophy. I explore new designs and ideas and then move on to new ones. If I find that a certain item has become popular I do a limited run. I have been an artist for 40 years. I’m still going at it, with fervor.
