My 540 sq ft. loft new studio is located in Joy St. Studios artist building in Somerville. I named my studio as ‘jStudio’ first since my name is ‘Ji In’. It is established in Nov.30th 2013. I made ‘Peace of Mind(POM) Pottery’ under jStudio in Dec. 2013. because I get peace of mind through pottery and want you to experience this bliss as well.
I am in studio #8 and I work as a full time potter. I also work and fire at the Harvard Ceramics Program for glazing and reduction firing and take workshops. I mostly work in my studio and using electric kiln for bisque and also glaze firing. I make functional wares using throwing and handbuilding method with Korean and international decorative skills.
Pottery itself is sculpture and functional ware, which has transformed contours with various meanings and history into it.
If you are interested in my work and want to visit my studio, drop by anytime during 9-5pm except public holidays or make an appointment by a phone call or email in advance.
Our Joy St. Art studio building has every second Sat. open studios including fall and spring season big open studios for sale.
If you visit my studio, you can sit down and drink a cup of free Korean tea while browse my works and small library book collection I have in my studio.
Experience a peaceful time with ‘peace of mind’.
