Mikioi Ceramics is currently a small home studio. I also teach classes via the Kauai Crafts Studio. If you are traveling to Kauai, I’d love to meet you. Please call or email me for a visit. If traveling with one or more other people, I may be able to organize a workshop for you. Please contact me as early as possible. I create ceramic art of diminutive proportions, often referencing a specific use. Some enlist a safe interior glaze making them technically utilitarian but are designed with an unusual and rather perplexing structure for function. The exterior glaze is inappropriate for beverage items and develops a strong contradiction between inside and out through color, texture and placement. These works may be considered ceremonial or decorative depending on the experience of the viewer, but will be used by the more cavalier among us.
