Carol has loved the peace of the deep woods since childhood. Escaping to the quiet earthy colors and sounds of the woods was an obsession throughout her youth. In the realms of an adolescent mind, everything in the woods was conscious and had feelings. The speckled light through the trees and blowing flowering plants and vines interacted with the mossy rocks and the flowing creek in a continuous web of color and life. In mid-life, when she began to look for an escape from day-to-day life, it was natural that she would return to the earth and turn to clay. Carol has had excellent fortune in finding clay artists such as Christine Winokur, Jerry Richardson, and Regina Wolff to instruct her on the path of self expression that echoes her love of the natural world. Carol produces ceramic art that captures woodland inspired color and form without loosing the whimsy of her childhood.
