My work is predominantly wheel thrown and functional using stoneware. Most pieces are microwave, dishwasher and oven safe. To begin with light colored clay bodies, with light glazes provide an excellent background for under and over glaze decorations. However experimenting with other clay bodies and firing techniques I have been adding more texture to my pieces and letting the form become the decoration. As a member of the Berkeley Potter’s Studio I have the opportunity to develop my work using reduction firing in a gas kiln. I still love firing using sawdust in a garbage can kiln outdoors, just need to find a place I can do that in California.
