Studio Description:
I work with colored stoneware, and inlays of porcelain, and use a combination of hand-building, and wheel-throwing techniques. Throughout the process I am open to opportunities to improvise with materials, and techniques to create one-of-a-kind, sculpted pottery.

My pottery embodies influences that shaped me as a fine artist: the beauty of clay’s texture and color in its unadorned state, the graphic sensibility of printmaking, and the unique sculptural forms of unearthed artifacts and shards from ancient cultures and in nature. My work is also informed by concepts found in the art movements of Dada, American Regionalism and Pop.

Although my pottery is “functional” – the bowl, the jug, the canister – its “form” is distinctively contemporary, organic and personal. I love the creative and physical process of making pottery. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had making art.
