Frank Colson’s voyage of artistic exploration is as remarkable as his wide range of work. His initial introduction to clay was Soji Hamada who arrived at a time that initiated the explosive growth of pottery in America! For half a century Frank taught and practiced new innovations in clay, metal casting, kiln building, and invention in far away places as Japan, Australia, India, Mexico, Europe, Indonesia and Canada!
Even though starting as a potter, he was a professional tile maker in San Miguel de Allende,Mexico, followed by opening his own bronze foundry in Sarasota, Florida. Not long after, Frank, did an entire gallery of “fiber-art” wall hangings which he exhibited both in Barcelona and in Stockholm. Presently, Frank has developed luminescent forms which were recently shown in Italy.
