Studio Description:

Studio/work description: Beginning in 2002, I worked for several well-known ceramic studios in Basel-Switzerland and abroad, where I acquired a thorough grounding in the design and production of ceramics.

Since 2009 I have worked as an independent ceramics artist in my two studios: in Basel (creation and production) and in Liguria/Italy (primitive firing, mostly pit firing, drum firing and sawdust firing). I prefer these firing methods, but I use also electric kilns for the porcelain and the glazed works.

I produce ceramics as a form of art. Animate and inanimate nature provides me with the inspiration for the particular shapes and surface variances of my pieces. As a result, my work is characterized by being fluid as well as angular, harmonious yet provocative, elegant as well as archaic, lively yet quiet. My choice of clay, the transformations occurring during the production cycle, my vivid impressions and colorations produce unique, sometimes narrative, and always strongly expressive results.
