Studio Description:
I create functional and decorative thrown and altered pottery, with an emphasis on the surface decoration and design. My background is fine art training in painting so working with a 3-Dimensional surface is liberating, especially after studying and working on 2-D surfaces for so long.

 

I am currently studying through various ceramic workshops and potters, Penland School of Crafts, and Montgomery Community College’s Professional Crafts Clay Program near Seagrove, NC. I completed a BA and almost a BFA. My goal at college is to obtain additional studio courses to help gather a strong portfolio for graduate school.

 

I am a professional artist (when I am not a professional student…or is it the same????) and I sell pottery, paintings, and commercial and private commissions through ArtView Studio, Inc. and Art4Babies, Inc. My subject matter includes nature, landscapes (especially mountainscapes), and working with sgraffito as a response to the organic pottery forms. Right now, I am trying to fire as many different ways as possible to really learn about the processes as I prepare a cohesive body of work. Current obsessions: underglazes, salt and gas reduction.
