Even more exciting than the open flame: the beautiful effects of a well-planned pit firing!

Aside from the thrill of playing with fire, pit firing is an exciting process because of all the exciting and unpredictable marks it can make on the pots. But if you have tried the technique without doing your research, you may have been disappointed by lackluster results. Sumi von Dassow has been using this process for many many years and it shows in the amazing colors and surface effects on her pots.
