I'm that slow I collect dust.
I have a friend who collects pots, he has well over !000, every room of his house looks like this:-

Porcupine quills have long been used as fishing floats in the UK, not so fashionable now but still available if you hunt around.
I signed two pots with one just this evening. I used to use a needle tool but that always seems to leave a small burr at the edges, the quill leaves a smoother result.

We are known worldwide for our "awful" weather in the UK, but fortunately we rarely experience anything remotely like the tornadoes and hurricanes that are a regular occurrence in at least some parts of the USA; my thoughts and commiserations go out to anyone affected. -
