There are frequently comments about cracking the kiln lid. But one of the statements burned into my brain during at the first studio I worked in was NOT to leave the kiln lid open with the wedge. I was told that it would eventually damage it.

So, kiln people, do or don't?

It seems we chose wares that are not very easy to transport! I am disabled and have to find a better way.

i am 3 weeks into recovery from hurting myself carrying too much to do a market show. I knew going into it I would have several down days afterward, but on top of the obvious, I really injured my upper back, shoulders and neck.

So for those of you who sell at markets, what do you use to transport everything from car to setup space & back again? I have shown this year at locations with a mix of sidewalk curbs, soil, gravel. I need a tool which will work/roll on those combinations.

Does anyone here use a Rock N Roller cart?

Hi, have been reading and thinking and still cannot figure out why. I have an Engobe recipe that I have been using as white. Recently I added 2% Chrome Ox to a few hundred grams.
After bisque firing, the colour is a medium sage green. The Clear Satin Glaze shows off the white, but greys out-- almost a blue-grey over the green Engobe. Tthere is no zinc in the clear satin glaze which I otherwise like and use regularly.

I want a satin or mat finish, and have no problem testing other glazes, but without understanding if there is something obvious, I don't know where to start.

Engobe: EPK 25, Ball Clay 28, NephSy 16, silica 21, Borax 5, Talc 5. Add Bentonite 2, Zircopax 5, Chrome Ox 2

Clear Satin Glaze: Gerstley Borate 3, Mag Carb 3, Whiting 23, NephSy 23, EPK 20, Silica 20, 3124 9
