In Topic: Amaco "Potter's choice" glazes
Posted 23 May 2013
I have used them for several years firing 5-6. Not sure why they are not working for you especially the PC 20. Go back to the web site and read instructions carefully again; you might have an application problem. I usually thin down my jars with a little water, some of the glazes are really thick. Now Antique Jasper...this one is often tough to get right. I put it on really thick at least 3 coats after previous coat is dry then I "splotch" over the third coat using a thick brush and dabbing the glaze in no set pattern. Here is a recent Antique Jasper:

In Topic: Where do you sign you name?
Posted 12 Apr 2013
I started out signing on bottoms the name of my pottery. Then I got fussed at. A lot of my former students said they wanted a piece that I made and signed with my name. Since I have hundreds of former students in the county I couldn't pass this up. I sign taylor on the bottom with a needle tool in a type of scripted print and lower case and sometimes the year date for a special piece. I kid with customers and tell them "Look at the bottom, it doesn't say Made in C...." -

Do you have a Radio Shack nearby? Pic looks like a half shaft that will take a knob that has a set screw in it. If no markings on a knob paint a line or arrow on it. -
In Topic: Tagging your work (hang tags and price tags)
Posted 14 Mar 2013
Since I'm still a young potter (7 years) and didn't know any better I started out hanging my business card , or dropping it in the pot, on everything I display for sale. I have pots in 3 gift stores and everyone really likes the colorful business card attached. I put the price on the back of the card. Just got in 500 more cards from Vistaprint for $12.47. I cut pieces of curly Christmas ribbon to hang the cards with. That's a pain cause my fingers are so big. Just an idea though. -

Great idea, going to make me one, but what did you use to face the block side that touches the pot?
