About Me
As a studio potter, creating art with an emphasis on functional forms, has always been the driving force in Bridges work. Her portfolio ranges from beautiful slab vases and textured platters to specialty serving pieces thrown on the wheel. Her signature pieces are honeycomb bowls and textured trays. She has been working in clay for over three decades. Her work demonstrates a real dedication to excellence in craftsmanship.
Bridges grew up in New Hampshire, in the Hanover area where her family had a small farm of sheep and chickens. She began her relationship with clay at a young age, with a kiln and wheel in the barn next to her father’s blacksmithing studio.
She apprenticed for several studio potters during college, and continued to work in clay in her own studio. Much of her knowledge is self-taught, but her foundation comes from training and workshops in New England by organizations such as the League of NH craftsmen.
Over the years her work as a potter has been interwoven with her other endeavors in the business world and raising a family. She holds a BA and an MBA in marketing and previously was a VP at Reuters.
Bridges has a studio based at her home in Port Washington and teaches Adult Ceramics at Haven Art. Bridges Pottery has been featured several times in Ceramics Monthly Daily Arts and her yarn bowls have been featured in Vogue Knitting Magazine. Bridges Pottery has developed a strong following and is available in retail outlets and online.
You can follow Bridges Pottery online at her Blog. See new work as it’s being made and before it hits the shelves.
