    Hi all,

I can't find much information already on glass infused pottery, how to do it, and the like - but I wanted to try using reclaimed bottles (bottle frit from the same manufacturer, same bottle type,etc)... can someone tell me or give me even basic information on how this process is done? I googled it but really didn't find much information on it - which I was kind of surprise.
Very interesting - want to try it!!

    Thanks!

I cannot find the instructions or link to an article I've seen on cutting a lid after making a closed sphere. I've done this with a single, slightly angled cut, cutting 3 semi-circle arches into the lid so it will be easy to replace it correctly. But I've seen something about a way to do this which causes a gallery or offset in the lid that makes it fit perfectly. I CAN'T FIND THIS BY GOOGLING! And I'm ready to cut and want to do it that way!!! Anyone know what I mean and can send me to the instructions??

I am going to order some of the Ceramic Arts Daily educational videos. Which format would you choose and why? Is there a downside to the download?

I had that same question the other day. Emailed them and was told you could burn to your own DVD after downloading. So not such a bad idea in my mind! Instant gratification, too!
  4. In Topic: Pottery Wheel

    Posted 31 Oct 2012

I bought my Clay Boss about 5 years ago...being new to wheel throwing (I was a handbuilder also) and not knowing if the love affair would last, I wanted an economical one. The affair is still going strong and I have never regretted buying it. I have used many other wheels in the multitude of workshops I have attended and still love it. I think, too, it's all in what you get used to. Ask 10 potters what wheel they prefer, you'll get 10 different answers. I throw at least 2-3 full days a week, and it has been good to me.

I also bought an Arista through Craigslist, and I'm not thrilled with it. I've used it a couple of times....ok in a pinch probably, but not one I'd want to use everyday.

    Good luck with your decision....

  5. In Topic: Best Table for the Studio?

    Hello!

I am very fortunate to be setting up a new studio in my home and I was wondering what the best surface for work tables is. I was just going to head to Goodwill or Ikea and find some cheap and sturdy tables.

Most pottery places I have seen have canvas covered tables. I have just read that this tends to promote clay dust. Is there a better option?

    Thanks!

    Susan

I found an old oak drafting table on craiglist for $75.....heavy, sturdy, easy to clean. The finish was pretty well worn to the bare wood, so I can even wedge on it. The lowest height setting, though, requires a higher drafting chair (also found one on craigslist). It is perfect in my little studio; a great all purpose table.

Aha...mine has also been mixed and shipped! But you're right..cusotmer service is non existent. Next time I will go with Carolina Clay. They responded quickly and price of $3.50 is not bad. I was ready to send an enmail with my reciped to them...glad you wrote. Thanks!! I really appreciate it!!

Hi, seems as if GlazeMixer is not out of business. I saw a charge on my bank account and then checked my account with them. The glaze has been mixed a shipped. They never did respond to my two emails or one hone message. I'm it sure what to think. I'm not really impressed with them customer service wise.
