Diane Puckett, on 13 June 2013 - 12:46 PM, said:I know the glaze is not what you wanted, but I like the color. If you are going to refire, I recommend picking the piece you are willing to lose and refire only that one until you see what it does.
Thank you, Diane! I will take your advice! My expectations on the color being more red and glossy have clouded my ability to see the pieces for what they are:)!! I will refire one piece and see what happens!
Thank you for the response!! -

Thank you, Benzine, for your quick response and acknowledgment of my pieces!
The red is supposed to be a very deep bright red, at least it is when fired in my teacher's kiln, same clay bodies, glaze, temps, one dip, etc.
I replicated those steps in my glazing however I am also thinking the glaze was too thin or I did not allow enough time in glaze dip.
I am avoiding your question on glaze tiles;(! The answer is no, I was too excited to do my first glaze fire! ๐ฑPoint taken, lesson learned:)! ๐๐
I will refire them along with test tiles of my other glazes๐๐!
Thanks again!! -
In Topic: Crazy fun tools for in the studio

I use fondant molds to form different shaped feet for some of my hand built trays. I also use stamping stencils, metal jewelry, ribbons, lace to create textures & patterns on my thrown or handbuilt pieces. ! Just lots of fun! I usual pick up most of my "tools" from yard sales, goodwill etc! -

Marcia Selsor, on 02 April 2013 - 04:38 PM, said:I think Chris sums it up fairly well. I love looking at pieces,
How was it make. Respond to the richness of glaze or clay colors. The forms, imagery,
What is it about.
All those. It is better to go alone or, at least keep your own pace. I am still fired up about all the beautiful and
thought provoking work from NCECA. The Shino SHow was a block buster.

Thank you, Marcia for a stroll through studio. It was delightful! Kathy
