    I do. I use it so I don't have to get up from the wheel and step back to look at the form I am throwing.

  2. In Topic: Can you talk to me about plates?

    Posted 22 May 2013

    I just made the first dinner set I have made in a couple of years. I didn't lose one plate and I was throwing Frost. I ended up with a set of 8 place settings and a few extra plates.

    Like Pres says, weigh the lumps to be equal. center, flatten with a fist, open and keep it flat Keep the calipers there, before you start pulling/pushing out and and several time after. Rib the plate to relieve stress.

    I use a chamois on the lip with a practiced edge and they are all the same. Dry slowly. Flipping them over to dry after they have firmed up enough not to sag.. I trim with a soft thin sponge in the center for support.

    Did you know that Marcia confuses us in another thread? You may get a laugh out of that, but, it made me cry.

    I get you mixed up because I think of you both as from my generation and you are both competent potters. Since I have never met either one of you and can only go by your postings, that is all I have to go by.

    hello Marcia,

    i think i can't make it either through Spain or Italy as i'm pre-occupied this days. however, do you have also those kind of webinar? i mean those live video conference in real time or recorded and late broadcast that is uploaded on the net so we can review it from time to time? i guess this is also an effective way to communicate such kind of activities.

    how to get plays on soundcloud

    I never really gave that much thought. So much a part of these working tours is being there, seeing the sites and enjoying the culture,soaking up new ideas from other places.

    Isn't wc for natural gas?
    PSI of 1/2 pound is very low for propane. Are you certain Marc said they could be used for propane?
    There is a difference between orifices for propane and natural gas. They are not the same thing.

    Marcia;
    I copied down your glaze test idea so that I can try it. I think you have a mistake on the fourth line. Should be C +E. TOM.

    As Patti Warashina says (and I am at her feet) clay is a most humbling media and we must be crazy to work with it.
