Durham NC/May 17 -July 13, 2013/ "Handbuilt"
Posted 10 May 2013
Claymakers Gallery is pleased to present a five-person show, “Handbuilt,” which features the work of Chris Campbell, Cathy Kiffney, Amy Sanders, Caroly Van Duyn, and Evelyn Ward.
People's first tools are their hands, and hand building as a clay-working technique is companion to human history. Hand-coiled, pinched, molded, and rolled clay resulted in bricks, vessels, and sculptures long before the development of the potter's wheel. The five North Carolina artists highlighted in "Handbuilt" skillfully employ these timeless techniques in a present-day mode.
An opening reception will be Friday, May 17th from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
I will be at the reception and hope to meet any locals who can attend.

Lords Valley PA/Oct. 11-13, 2013/Colored Clay Revolution
Posted 8 May 2013
This workshop will teach you how to color your clay, how to blend secondary colors, how to fade colors and how to create patterned canes using my adaptation of the Skinner Blend. I will demonstrate and discuss various ways of using these patterns in your work to increase its appeal. Workshops are suitable for all levels of clay experience. We will have one bisque firing.

Teaching Creativity?
Posted 24 Apr 2013
Question for the teachers out there .... Can creativity be taught?
I believe you can teach someone to use / trust their creative instincts.
But can someone who is not creative be taught to be?
Or, are we all creative and just need permission to let go? -
