Simon Leach workshop May 6-7th One Spot Left!
Posted 23 Apr 2013
I just wanted to give you all an update on the Simon Leach workshops at Bruning Pottery near Seattle, WA May 6th-9th.
I have been very excited since day one where the response was excellent from participants and even had a waiting list at one time. However I have had a last minute cancellation for the May 6-7th class and have exhausted my waitlist. I wanted to send a note to all of you just in case you heard it was full or wait listed (which it was) and did not contact me. If you are interested, please go to my announcement page and contact me and I will get that all setup for you. http://nwclayclub.com/?page_id=6 The workshop is in two weeks so if you want to come you must move quickly.
The workshop is going to be fun for all participants and I am sure we will all have stories of the time together. I wanted to be able to create some of these memories for other local potters by having an evening Tuesday May 7th from 6PM at Bruning Pottery. Larry Bruning is hosting a Lecture / Q&A / Book Signing with Simon Leach that is open to anyone who wants to come. Come meet Simon, have a snack, and help celebrate Larry and Judy Bruning's 30th year in business as a local potter. It may be an intimate affair or it may be a very large group, but come and see for yourself.
I am going to create an announcement for the Open house evening at Bruning Potter with Simon Leach later today. -
Venco Wheel Opinions
Posted 23 Apr 2013
Looking for opinions on this Venco wheel? Has anyone ever used one? The specs look super cool, but I cannot find much information. The wireless pedal sounds like a good feature, and the solid construction seems nice.

Details
Simon Leach is going to be at Bruning Pottery May 6-9th conducting some workshops and we wanted to bring local potters in to have an opportunity to meet Simon and help Larry and Judy celebrate their 30 years in business. We do not really know what to expect; it may be an intimate affair or it could be an all-out cramped standing room only kind of affair.
Simon is going to share some information about his life journey in clay as well as some information about his father and grandfather. He also has a new book and if you already have it bring it to be signed, Bruning Pottery has a very limited stock of Simon’s new book, so if you want one you will need to get one from their gallery area first thing upon arriving. -
Small gift ideas for potters
Posted 7 Mar 2013
I am putting on a workshop in May and I would like to put together a little gift bag for each participant. What kind of things would you like to see in a gift bag at a pottery workshop. there are 28 participants in total so it cannot be too expensive, but want something that they will not just throw away when they get home.
I thought about getting some tools, but small tools are something that everyone would already have and there are as many tools as there are people who like them, so I could not get something everyone would want.
So what are your ideas? -
My first firing at my new studio
Posted 2 Mar 2013
I made a quick video of my first test firing since I moved my studio. It turned out great. Take a look and let me know. I was most excited about the red and the Shino.
