About Me
All that I have learned as an artist is through the influence of other artists and skilled people I have observed throughout my life. Workshops in bead making, welding, glass blowing, sewing, wheel throwing, glaze development, watercolor techniques, etc, have improved my skills and has allowed me to achieve the desired effects needed to complete an art installation. There is an endless supply of inspiration around me! Nature, human experiences, and simply the human form are what I draw and create from. The Afghan women and their endeavor to survive and stay strong are humbling, which was the focus of my last installation. I was able to work on reliefs I wheel threw and altered for the Nomad exhibit in November of 2009. These sculptures allowed me to express through clay the beauty of Nomadic life and culture. I love dancers and their ability to move so emotionally, so they will be my models for my upcoming installation in Long Beach, CA titled "The Art of Motion". I want to thank you for checking out my site and hope that you are able to draw inspiration from my work.

I started out with coloring books! So I pretty much have
been drawing and painting as far back as I can remember,
Including the walls I drew on. While in middle and high
school, I signed up for art classes and dreamed of going
to college after high school. My father, a film editor for
Disney, Paramount, and finally Universal, adamantly
disagreed, constantly telling me art was not a way to make
a living. So I did what he suggested, I went to school seeking
something that will pay the bills. Even though I took my
father's advice, I longed to bring back my creative side. So
sparked the challenge of my art education. All that I have
mastered and learned as an artist has been through independent
study supplemented by art workshops (listed below) I was
introduced to pottery by my sister and loved it so much that I
bought a potter's wheel, Kiln, and tools and got to work! The
same with welding, once I was shown how to weld, I was making
stands and integrating this new found love into my
sculptures.
My mother was a housewife, stay-at-home mommy, and
artist. Her work had a huge influence in my life. Her
medium was watercolors, so as a teen I worked with
watercolors and charcoals most of the time. As you can
see here on my website I have come a long way from
working with coloring books and I thoroughly enjoy every
medium, as each medium pulls a different emotion
from me with great satisfaction.
I love to collaborate with other artists that work with
mediums I am not familiar with not only to learn something
different but also to put together a multimedia art
installation in the hopes to inspire the audience to have
a more active role. If the audience is able to walk away
with an emotional response, I feel a sense of satisfaction
and connection with them.
I have had the privilege to be mentored in skills such as
wheel throwing, glass blowing, welding, Raku, lime/marble
based plasters, paper clay sculptures, and much more.
I am currently working with artists that incorporate aged
slaked lime/marble based plasters in their work. This
medium is allowing us to incorporate amazing works of
art on walls.
What inspires me? Nature, human experience, world
events, books, movies, and much more. My last show
focused on Africa and the sad affairs of that continent.
I was inspired by the Afghan women and their endeavor
to survive and stay strong. That show was titled
"Desert Installation", location-Yucca Valley, CA. I
incorporated reliefs (vanishing animals) on the vases
I wheel threw and altered; A video installation titled
"Baraka" written and directed by Ron Fricke was projected
on a large screen to evoke awareness of what is
happening to our earth; Two water installations
("Apathy Well" & "Nigerian Watering Well"); and Paintings,
sculptures, and pottery were some of the works presented
in that years art installation.
