About Me

I started out as a potter in the 70’s and did serious production pottery for 8 years. I built a studio in an artist community on 300+ acres in the hills of Tennessee after studying ceramics at Arizona State. I did all the big shows back in the day – Ann Arbor, Gold Coast, Ashville, Nashville and the biggies in Florida in the winter. Then for family reasons I quit and went into busines, spending most of my career in the high end software business selling six and seven figure deals to Fortune 500 companies. The last part of my career I spent in the field of alternative energy and sustainability and plan to apply some of the lessons learned to our new studio.

Now 25 years later, I am in the process of building a new studio in Sedona, AZ and can't wait to get back into it. I have been working out of cooperative studios on a part time basis to ease back into it and to see if I could still "ride a bike". I am a huge believer in the philosophical aspects of pottery - the Zen of it, if you will. I still am turned on by the pottery of Leach, Hamada, Cardew, Wildenhain, Feves, Glick, Bringle, Counts - among many others and have recently gone back and read many of their articles and books for inspiration. These people led the way on creating functional pots as an art form and not a blue collar craft. I aspire to do the same.
