I started out adult life as a registered nurse working mainly cardiac--did that for five years (the national average for RNs, by the way)--and then went to journalism for a small town paper. Started doing pottery when my dad bought me a wheel for Christmas one year and started selling within the year. That was 15+ years ago. Recently I've been teaching pottery and art at the local YMCA, but considering going back to studio pottery. It's been fun, but perhaps the time is coming for me to be on my own again. Mostly I have done and sold utilitarian pieces. In my classes, though, we've done a lot of hand built and slab work--lots of decorative, fun pieces.
