I can't find any recipes for a cone 6 "color active," or fluxing slip. I'm really not sure what designates a slip as such, beyond the presence of more than normal percentages of flux(s). If I were to use a lower cone slip would it act like a color active slip?

Colored slips for me are slip (made from whatever clay body I choose) with added colorants to get a colored slip.-Fluxing slips for me are slips with fluxes added or lower cone clays which flux at high temps-I never have used ether .
I have colored porc or stoneware to make colored slips-most of this has been salt fired.
I have no idea what a color active slip is?

I'm not totally sure, but i think if you added like one part frit 3124 to one part colored slip you'd have a color active slip.

Thanks Darrel, I'll try a test using 3124.

I'm not sure either Mark. For now it is a pottery term that is awaiting concise definition. Like so many other pottery terms, it may never find one, heh.
