I am trying to set up my Orton vent master on my new Paragon TNF823,big ceramic stores biggest little kiln.My husband is helping me and instructions are saying drill intake holes in the lid.I'm thinking they are pre drilled but can't see them.Really do not want to screw up my 1st kiln.Do we need to drill or not?

paradise, if youre not sure about the holes, turn out the lights in the room and get your hubby to shine a flashlight on the lid while you stand on other side and see if any light passes. normally the lids are not predrilled due to the fact that not everyone gets a vent master. it usually calls for 4 small holes to be drilled 90 degrees from each other in the top lid. sometimes comes with a template. good luck. j.

The size and number of holes will depend on the size of the kiln. Refer to the vent manual.

I have a Duncan kiln and I just don't put in my top peephole plug, and that works well for me.

Leaving out a peep plug creates a hole much larger than the vent needs. Too big a hole and you lose the negative pressure needed for the vent to work properly.
