I am having trouble with the Blue Hares Fur cone 6 oxidation formula below.
I worked excellent as a test glaze, but the larger batches that I have made have both turned out flat black.
I think that my firing schedule has been pretty much consistent.

EPK 5.40

RIO 2.00
Cobalt Oxide 1.00
Rutile 4.00
Bentonite 2.00

Any similar experiences or suggestions?

What size is your test kiln? I have the same problem with test glazes being different than the larger batches, I believe it's because I have a very small test kiln the interior is 8x8 inches and it cools down very quickly. I have started mixing 1000 gram batch and testing it in a larger kiln before I mix up a 5 gallons. I would be curious to know if someone else has a different idea or theory.

It probably has to do with the thickness of application. I think you need to apply your glaze a little thicker to get the effect. Of course you will need to make a test of this. Too thick an application will cause your glaze to run, so, test, test, test.
