How do you print words on clay? Rubber stamps? Bisque stamps? Laser cut stamps? There seems to be a dearth of commercial alphabets available.

There are as many ways as you can think of including all the ones you mentioned! I have an alphabet set from a leather working store ... They have all kinds of fonts and sizes. I have also used alphabet macaroni. I have applied plastic letters and colored around them before removing. I have had a rubber stamp made of a saying ... Ask them to cut it so the borders don't show when applied to clay. I have a metal stamp of my signature. I'm sure other people have done it other ways ...

I like to use stamps on some of my works. I've found some nice rubber stamps (easy to control depth and to clean) at my local Hobby Lobby store and purchased others from Continental Clay. The latter offers letters and numbers that interlock, which can be helpful.

I too have a large selection of rubber letter stamps in various fonts and sizes ..... mostly bought from the Children's Craft section of hobby/art supply shops, but many years ago I also acquired an Adana printing press (sadly past its best) and with it came drawers and drawers of assorted lead letters, spacers and small decorative panels - wonderful! I'm sure you'd find some on ebay - in fact I just did a very quick trawl (in the UK) and found http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4aba1ba68f among lots of others

Amazon has lots of metal die sets. Not costly, either. Try alphabet stamps or die stamps as a search.
