Well, I don't know if this technically classified as pottery, but I need to make a pot replica, the conundrum I'm having is that I don't know how to fill it with gypsum/silicone and then pull it out, since it's bulbous-shaped and the mold itself wouldn't fit trough the opening. Am I just missing something completely obvious or what?

Thanks. Posted Image

EDIT: It's shaped like this, more or less.

You'll need to make a two-piece mold. Check Youtube for videos, or any of a number of books and DVD's on plaster mold making.

Keep in mind there will be shrinkage of the final cast; you must allow for this when replicating a finished piece.
A two part or even three part mold, with a spare, will work very well for a mold of this vessel.

I re-read your post and I am not quite sure if I understand fully what you meant.
So to clarify a bit about mold making, when a mold is made of an existing vessel the exterior shape is what is used not the interior.
There are a few aspects to this process that cannot be covered in the limited space of these posts. It is best before you try to make a mold to research the process thoroughly. A library search will yield good results.
