Horizontal Crack In Bowl Rate Topic: -----

I just unloaded a ^6 glaze firing and found one bowl that cracked from the outside only (it appears) all around the bottom of the bowl. There are several cracks that seem not to connect but make a complete ring around the base of the bowl. The base seems just a little thick - but not so that I would expect it to crack like this.

I've never had it happen before, but I've heard it's not uncommon...

Can you tell me why this happened.
