Good Footing: A Video Guide to Trimming Wheel Thrown Pottery

I am one of those unusual people who actually doesn’t mind trimming pots. i find something very satisfying about that sharp tool cutting into the clay, especially when it’s timed just right and the clay is at the perfect stage of drying. For many people though, trimming is a bit of a chore.
But, whether you love it or hate it, we all know that paying attention to all the details helps make stronger, better pots. That’s why I thought I would share this video from Jerry Horning’s DVD Making Pots on the Wheel. It’s a great little introduction to (or reminder of) the considerations that should go into footing pots.- Jennifer Harnetty, editor.
