Assistant Professor Ceramics: Full-Time, Tenure Track. The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), School for American Crafts (SAC) is seeking individuals committed to contributing to RIT’s core values, honor code, and statement of diversity. Responsibility will be to teach courses in the BFA/MFA Ceramics Degree Program during fall, winter, spring quarters; provide service to SAC and RIT; and engage in scholarly activity in the Ceramics field. Other responsibilities: management of studio facilities, advising students, and implementing curriculum. Applicant screening begins 2/1/2010. Salary open. Position is subject to available funding. MFA degree in Ceramics required. Extensive exhibition record with a signature body of work. Evidence of strong teaching skills. Mastery in most ceramic materials and processes, e.g. throwing, hand building, slip casting, clay and glaze chemistry, and kiln building and firing. Ability to teach utilitarian and sculptural Ceramics with a broadminded acceptance of a wide spectrum of interests and approaches in the field.
