The following materials and information are required in order to submit your graduate ceramics program profile to Ceramics Monthly. Complete submissions will be considered for publication in the September, October, November and December issues. All text and images should be submitted in digital files on CD, and should be accompanied by hard copies as well.
Educational Philosophy or Mission (maximum 500 words):
• The purpose of this text is to give prospective students some idea of what the institution and faculty are looking for in a student, as well as how the educational process is approached. For example, you might discuss how you approach the critiquing process.
Program Details:
• Years to complete/graduation requirements (group or individual exhibition, etc.)
• Applicants/year
• Positions available/year
• Teaching Assistantships and/or Fellowships available
• Career-planning or job-placement-assistance programs
• Cost (tuition and fees)
Facilities:
• List of equipment (type and number of kilns, wheels, mixers, damp cabinets, etc.)
• Studios (private or shared, square footage, etc.)
• Dedicated spaces (glaze mixing, kiln room, materials storage, plaster mixing, etc.)
This information can be entered into the Facilities document.
Faculty (Please supply the following from each grad-faculty member):
• Full contact information (mailing address, email and phone)
• Area of concentration
• How long at this institution
• Images of recent work (see image requirements below)
• Galleries/venues representing your work
• Where faculty member studied
This information can be entered into the Faculty document.
Graduate Students (please supply the following from each current graduate student):
• Full contact information (mailing address, email and phone)
• Brief reason for attending this institution
• Did you take time between undergrad and grad school? Why, or why not?
• Career plans for post-grad life
• How actively are you pursuing an exhibition career while in school?
• Images of recent work (see image requirements below)
This information can be entered into the Student document.
Images
Images should be delivered as uncompressed four-color (CMYK), 300 dpi image files (preferably tiff format), with complete caption information (dimensions, specific ceramic medium, forming methods, surface treatment, firing technique and temperature). Do not e-mail images!
All image files and text files should be burned to a CD and mailed to our editorial offices:
