Marilee’s Lava Glaze Recipe, Cone 6, oxidation or reduction
A very rough glaze; not intended for food surfaces. Fine silicon carbide seems to work best. For a gray to black variation, add 7% Mason stain 6600.

Can anyone clarify the percentage of Silicon Carbide?
I’ve seen this in three other locations and they list it as .34% vs 34%
I’m not a mathematician but it seems like a big difference.
Thx

BTW - is this going to coat the kiln with little black dots of glaze as the CO2 off gasses?
Do you need to use a Sagr?

Is it really 70% Mason stain 6600 or 7%?
