Matt B Glaze Recipe, Cone 6 Oxidation

Matt “B” Glaze	Cone 6 Oxidation
Glaze Material	Percentage
Lithium Carbonate	2.7%
Strontium Carbonate	26.5
Nepheline Syenite	57.5
Kentucky Ball Clay (OM 4)	6.2
Flint	7.1
Total	100.0%
Add:
Bentonite	3.0

The matt quality of this glaze is easily affected by colorants, so variations have different surface qualities as well as colors.

For Dark Green Add:		For Orange Add:
Copper Carbonate	3%	Encapsulated Orange Stain	5%
Nickel Oxide	2%	Zirconium Yellow Stain	5%

I am looking for a semi Matte rich umber or reddish brown, cinnamon cone 6 oxidation glaze. Anyone have one they are willing to share. I have had no luck with a good fitting and behaving glaze in this color. I am using a Buff mid range clay.

I just recieved this glaze recipe and am going to start testing it. Does anyone have any results to share? For instsance, does this glaze work well dipped or srayed? Colorant successes or mishaps. What clay body was used? Thickness issues, running or just any info would be welcome. Sounds like I ‘m not alone in questions about the glaze, so I’ll let you know what happens with my experiments. Be playful and hav fun!

Is the pot glazed with one base glaze with two different colorant combinations or is it a combination of glazes other than the one listed?

They give two color variations – Look below the glaze recipe. One for green and the other for orange.
