Mini Pottery Workshop Video: Three Nuggets of Wisdom from an Expert Potter

Ceramics workshops are the best. If you ever have the opportunity to attend one, by all means do it. There is nothing like watching another potter or ceramic artist do his or her thing. Even if you are extremely proficient in a certain method or technique, you can always benefit from hearing how someone else does it and why. Not only can you pick up new techniques at a workshop, but you can benefit in less tangible ways as well. By listening to another potter’s perspective, you can expand your own.

A couple of years ago, master potter Tom Turner hosted a two-day workshop. Fortunately, for those who were not lucky enough to attend the workshop, he had the whole thing filmed and turned it into a DVD. The DVD is chock full of little nuggets of wisdom that come from Turner’s many years of making pottery. I picked out three of those little nuggets to share with you today. – Jennifer Harnetty, editor.
