Leslie February 6, 2010 at 12:39 pm -I have just watched the cracked Potters piece and Jeri and Kate our an inspiration to me!! Finding pottery has given me a needed creative outlet for the second half of my life, and I am encouraged by their efforts to rediscover a direction for their lives. I am also inspired to really set up a sculpture /hand-building area in the tiny space I have at home. Their use of reclaimed objects suggests lots of ways I might be able to do that. Thanks for the all the good ideas!

Diane February 2, 2010 at 12:48 am -I loved all the videos. The Breakaway pottery for the environmentalism and group fun they seem to be having.. And, Ann Suchecki’s converting her garage(I have done that in the past.) However, I have had to stop working several times due to depression, and always work again, after healing, and JUST DO IT. That is why I voted for the Cracked Potters because I can really relate to them.

The table does serve every purpose, just not at one time. I loved the cracked potters use of the camp kitchens. Everything in the studio had dual purposes in its’ lifetime. Also the spirit and humor of the speaker was really inspiring.

I also loved how they used the old camp kitchens for storage, which give their studio space more meaning with the wonderful memories of childhood nearby. I have a wheel in the living room of my one bedroom apartment and a slab roller in the bedroom next to my six, five-gallon buckets of glaze. I work on my dining room table as well. When I glaze, I stack a couple of rows of white file boxes to the right height, put a board over them and use that as a glaze table. When it comes to just doing it, I figure where there’s a wheel, there’s a way! I’d recommend a VL-Whisper for apartment use because it’s quiet and doesn’t disturb the neighbors. Some brands sound like jet engines taking off!

Simone February 1, 2010 at 1:38 pm -All of the video’s were great but I think the cracked potters could use a second wheel, as there are 2 people sharing the studio space, and working with clay is the best therapy.

Valerie February 1, 2010 at 9:52 am -As usual I am probably a day late and a dollar short on voting but I love Ann Suchecki’s video. YES it is true. You don’t have to wait for that perfect place to do your work. I know first hand. I worked on my kitchen table for over a year. I do handbuilding. My tools were kept on the table. Pieces of work were drying on the table but once they were partially dried I loaded them into my kiln. it was the only space I had for storage. The kiln was in the garage. My surplus clay was kept under the table….my ex husband was never happy about the table being my ‘workshop’….could be a connection. He put together a make shift workshop for me in the backyard. I used it until…well until. Today I use my garage. It is a cramped space but I make it work. I think it all comes down to if you really want to work in clay…or any medium for that matter, you will find a way. You don’t need a glamorous studio to produce great work. Ann’s video tells a great story.

YIANNIS January 31, 2010 at 7:22 am -I admire the group work of Breakaway Pottery, I really envy the tidiness of the Cracked Potters, but I vote the hearty radiance of Ann Suchecki. Good luck to all magnificent three.

Paul January 30, 2010 at 11:39 pm -My vote went to the Cracked Potters for their success using clay as their therapy and fitting out their studio with opportunities, even though I wanted dearly to give due cludos to Anne Suchecki in clearly showing we can do it anywhere, even in the kitchen. Well done all. Paul_Down under

Debra January 30, 2010 at 6:05 pm -All three of the studios were fascinating and informative. However, my vote goes to Breakaway Pottery’s use of recycled items. Thanks to all. Each video gave me more ideas to incorporate in my cramped little basement studio.

Mary January 30, 2010 at 4:08 pm -Breakaway pottery I found the most informative but will place it second as I never could download the full clip in spite of erasing browsing history in troubleshooting. So the winner in my estimation is Ann Suchecki from Chester Hill. It was good to have inspiration from cracked potters and hope they continue

Carla January 30, 2010 at 3:28 pm -Ann Suchecki got my vote for just do it and showing all of us how to set up a working studio in the basement. I enjoyed all of them though. I loved the ladies on the Breakway Pottery all lined up as if for Show & Tell holding their works at the end of the video. I think all of them deserve a prize.

Erin January 29, 2010 at 5:40 pm -Wow, I’d have to say they all deserve a potter’s wheel! Tough choice!
