Here’s a look at the projects Hattie presents in this DVD. In the Double Patina Earrings project, you’ll create matching
earrings textured with flagstone and finished using liver of sulfur and
gold pen plater. The Rainbow Pendant project uses a rainbow patina with
gold accents as well, but also includes a gemstone as a feature. Golden Swirl Earrings is a project consisting of two parts put
together afterward. One part is punched with a decorative element and a
gold accent added while the other part is a textured disk with a
rainbow patina. The Mind’s Eye Ring is designed with a deep recessed area to protect the patina, and incorporates a thin bezel to reveal more of the gemstone. |

The final project is an Antique Bracelet where several components are designed and finished separately and combined in the end with jump rings. With textures, gemstones, creative components and layered elements, this ambitious project brings together a lot of the PMC techniques from the series including making molds of antique elements. At the end of the projects, you’ll find details about the 24 karat gold pen plater in a step-by-step format. Using a special pen and a liquid gold solution, you can gold plate accents and the way you finish your work makes a big difference in the final look. Gold doesn’t work with black oxider but does work well with the liver of sulfur rainbow patina, which is explained next. After cleaning up your work and adding any gold accents, the liver of sulfur technique requires heating water and sulfur solution. Both the gold and the liver of sulfur require careful handling, which is explained. Protecting the final patina is done by applying renaissance wax or a clear lacquer spray. |
