Other Great Selections
The reviews are in for our featured selections!
"...an outstanding compendium on the subject of china painting. It should become the standard reference book on the subject ...a must have book for those interested in this art form." John Hesselberth Co-author of Mastering Cone 6 Glazes
"An absolute feast! The most complete book I have ever seen on overglaze, for both china painters and potters." Marci Blattenberger Co-founder Porcelain Painters International Online
"Paul REALLY knows his stuff. This is a great book covering so much territory, it's a mini history of an area of ceramics that has not been addressed in such a contemporary way. After years of research and work, he has created benchmark and a major reference, an example for others to use in this kind of research. It's a great resource not only for potters, but historians, china painters, antique dealers and collectors. Jeanette Harris (Poulsbo, WA United States)

"I first made my purchase because I had a couple of my photos included in the book. But when I opened it up, it took my breath away! Not only are the photos well done and well laid out, but there is historical information about clay instruments, as well as information about currently made clay instruments. There are also pages of 'how to' for those so inclined. There is information about various artists. I thought it was of such value that I have purchased a copy for the Bethany College Art Department's ceramic instructor. There is a wealth of knowledge in this one book! I highly recommend owning one! Kudo's to Barry Hall!" Janie Tubbs (Lindsborg, KS USA)
"This book is both beautiful and full of practical and interesting information about clay-instrument-making and about music, both contemporary and ancient. The CD alone is well worth the price of the book and a delight to the ear, the book is of interest not only to makers but also to any music enthusiast. It is very well layed out and there are cross references for each music track to the clay instruments making the sounds. It is educational to both teachers and students alike, in the specific and general sense. It will be a classic in years to come and is a must-have for anyone interested in ceramics or music. It is also full of beautiful objects and would satisfy anyone interested in art for its own sake." Hester Heuff (Ireland)
