About the Bookstore

The American Ceramic Society has published books on ceramics since its founding in 1898. The Society is a non-profit organization that serves the informational, educational, and professional needs of the global ceramics community. Long a publisher of technical materials for the science and manufacturing sectors, the Society began publishing books for the arts in 1996 after acquiring Ceramics Monthly magazine. Since then, books on artists and techniques and compilations of previously published materials from Ceramics Monthly and Pottery Making Illustrated have formed the core of book offerings for the ceramic arts community.

In addition to its own books, The American Ceramic Society also co-publishes books with A&C Black, a London publisher founded 200 years ago. Our A&C Black offerings provide an international flavor to our program and enjoy a worldwide audience of potters, artists and educators.

Later in 2007, we’re introducing a new Ceramic Arts Handbook series that will provide artists with the best previously published materials appearing in CM and PMI and topically arranged. These books will contain information on many techniques dealing with forming, surface treatments and firing.

About Ceramic Arts Daily

Ceramic Arts Daily is an online community serving active potters and ceramic artists worldwide, as well as those who are interested in finding out more about these crafts. Ceramic Arts Daily provides a wide array of tools for learning about and improving skills, and a place for artists to display their work and to share ideas and perspectives about how their art and life interact to shape each other.

CeramicArtsDaily.org provides a free daily newsletter, access to Ceramics Monthly and Pottery Making Illustrated magazines, and to Potters Council, as well as all the related products and services that these groups offer.

Ceramic Arts Daily is produced by the Ceramic Publications Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of The American Ceramic Society.
