China Paint & Overglaze by Paul Lewing "...an
outstanding compendium on the subject of china painting. It should
become the standard reference book on the subject ...a must-have book
for those interested in this art form." –– John Hesselberth
Co-author of Mastering Cone 6 Glazes
"An absolute feast! The
most complete book I have ever seen on overglaze, for both china
painters and potters." –– Marci Blattenberger, Co-founder Porcelain
Painters International Online
"Paul REALLY knows his stuff. This
is a great book covering so much territory, it's a mini history of an
area of ceramics that has not been addressed in such a contemporary
way. After years of research and work, he has created benchmark and a
major reference, an example for others to use in this kind of research.
It's a great resource not only for potters, but historians, china
painters, antique dealers and collectors –– Jeanette Harris
(Poulsbo, WA United States) –– Only $69.95

From Mud to Music by Barry Hall "I
first made my purchase because I had a couple of my photos included in
the book. But when I opened it up, it took my breath away! Not only are
the photos well done and well laid out, but there is historical
information about clay instruments, as well as information about
currently made clay instruments. There are also pages of 'how to' for
those so inclined. There is information about various artists. I
thought it was of such value that I have purchased a copy for the
Bethany College Art Department's ceramic instructor. There is a wealth
of knowledge in this one book! I highly recommend owning one! Kudos to
Barry Hall!" –– Janie Tubbs (Lindsborg, KS USA)
"This book is
both beautiful and full of practical and interesting information about
clay instrument making and about music, both contemporary and ancient.
The CD alone is well worth the price of the book and a delight to the
ear. The book is of interest not only to makers but also to any music
enthusiast. It is very well laid out and there are cross references
for each music track to the clay instruments making the sounds. It is
educational to both teachers and students alike, in the specific and
general sense. It will be a classic in years to come and is a must-have
for anyone interested in ceramics or music. It is also full of
beautiful objects and would satisfy anyone interested in art for its
own sake. –– "Hester Heuff (Ireland) –– Only $59.95 | |
Soda, Clay & Fire is a marvel. It's going to take awhile to digest
all the incredible information that Gail Nichols has shared from her
years of exploration into soda firing. " –– June P. NC
"I
have been a full time professional potter for over 20 years firing
mostly to stoneware in an electric kiln. Having read Gail's book I
built a gas fired kiln and began developing new work to soda fire. Soda
is now my main passion." –– CM
"The reader can take this book
and just read it, or they can study from it, or they can be totally
inspired by it. I was all of the above." –– Jackie
"Gail's account is the best I have seen in any of the other salt and/or soda firing books or articles." –– Brenda –– Only $34.95 | Read More |
