He will share a visual presentation how he makes the porcelain pieces, clay bodies hes uses, along with glazes, mold making, and casting techniques.

Did you start with pottery (ceramics) by accident or by design?
How we each “found” clay can likely be an interesting series of stories I bet. I’m guessing there are many convoluted paths leading to each of our kilns. For myself…… I started out life as a marine zoology major in college. But more on that later…….. how about you? Was it is cosmic plan…. or serendipity?

In this workshop Kevin Snipes will improvise the process of his narrative ceramic work by using mishima, sgraffito and wax resist techniques on a greenware multi-sided, slab constructed, vessel-like porcelain objects. Participants are invited to contribute to the narrative of this piece using elements of their own histories, desires or foibles through including their own imagery, text or personal symbology.
