What glazes do you use, how many, and where did you find them?
I am curious to know about your glazes. If you make your own glazes, can you tell me where you found the recipes? School, friend, book, other? How did you choose your favorites? By color/surface? I saw John Glick in a workshop recently and he said he uses more than forty glazes. Wow!
Do you prefer to work in your studio alone, or in a communal studio? In which circumstance do you feel more productive? Happier?
I would probably get more work done by myself, but truth be told, I actually like to have people around. Which is probably also why I continue teaching, while also working in the university studio. How about you?

Working with cone 5 stoneware, Amy Sanders’ presentation at the Altered Ceramics conference will focus on soft slab construction and altered thrown forms, while also considering how stamped patterns and clay appliqués enhance the surface.
Have you experimented working with various clay bodies: stoneware, porcelain, terra cotta, white earthenware? Do you use primarily one body? How did you decide? What are the qualities that made “IT” the one?
Sorry more than one question, but all related… I am primarily a stoneware person, but always keep some porcelain nearby.
